There's a Good Reason Why I'm Late with the Winner...

It was my anniversary yesterday!! 23 wonderful years being married to greatest man on earth. He's loving, kind, caring, funny, patient, always helpful and loves his family to pieces! We had a great day...church in the morning, then we went out for breakfast. We decided not to buy gifts or cards for each other, so we bought flowers and a gift for a friend's mother who is in a nursing home from a knee replacement. Later on we went to Foxwood's Casino to see Legends in Concert. Our daughter Courtney had received complimentary tickets at her work, so she gave them to us! It was unbelievable...all 5 singers looked exactly like the originals. The dancers and costume changes were amazing. The 5 we saw were...Bobby Darin (Mack The Knife and Beyond The Sea were my favorites), then Tim McGraw (he was great too), Shakira, Prince and Elvis. If you get the chance in your part of the country to see this show, it's wonderful. It changes all the time!

And now I'll stop talking and announce the winner of the Christmas cookie cutters. Random number generator picked #19, so the winner is...

Suzan from...

I am going to resume my Sharing on Sunday again in September. These next few weeks in August are going to be crazy. We're having over 100 people this Saturday for Kelsie's graduation party, family is visiting from out of state, then we need to pack up both girls for college and then the big move in the last weekend in August.

Have a great day,

Sharing on Sunday #9 Christmas in July...

Ok...today is July 25th. Don't hate me for saying this, but Christmas is 5 months away from TODAY! and how appropriate for the last Christmas in July give away.

This week's give away is a brand new bucket of 40 Christmas cookie cutters.

There are 20 designs with 2 of each kind...one standard size and one mini.

Here are the pictures of the cookie cutters.

What's wonderful about cookie cutters is the many uses for them. You know me...never use something for real purpose.
  • cookies (that one is obvious, lol )
  • cut out rice crispy treats
  • make fudge in each one and give as a gift
  • Christmas tree ornaments
  • tie them together for a wreath or hang them from a wreath
  • hang a tag on each one for a dinner place card
  • use a napkin ring
  • templates for scrap booking
  • cut out shapes from card stock and make gift tags
  • how can I not mention Quilt Appliques!!
  • cut out sandwiches for children
  • cut out shapes from pancakes

For me, I use cookie cutters for everything else but cookies. I tend to make drop cookies rather than rolled cookies.

I usually make M&M cookies, Hershey Kiss cookies, Russian Tea Cakes, Coconut Macaroons, chocolate covered peanut butter balls, "Good Cookies", chocolate Chex mix, caramel popcorn and more.

To enter the give away you can just leave a comment, but if you'd like to leave a comment with your favorite Christmas Cookie or dessert that would be great too.

Maybe some time in the fall, closer to Christmas I can put together a blog to share Christmas recipes

I'll pick the winner next Sunday August 1st!!

Take care,

~Karen~

Sharing on Sunday #8 Christmas in July...

Here's this week's Christmas give away. A peppermint candy cane theme!
space

A large package of letterhead paper...100 sheets of paper. The label says it's great for printers and it's acid free, so I think it would be great for scrap booking. I use this kind of paper for invitations, newsletters, I've made recipes books with them for gifts and they are great for letters to Santa. The package says it's peppermint scented, but I bought this package at an after Christmas sale this last holiday. It's still sealed, but not sure how long the scent lasts.

Next is a new package of 20 red envelopes if you use the paper for invitations or letter writing.

and then there is a new package of peppermint candy cane alphabet stickers for scrap booking. Aren't they cute.

Here's a close up.

Just leave a comment on this post to enter the give away and I'll pick the winner next Sunday.

Merry Christmas in July. We could use a little winter weather right now, today was a scorcher.

A Great Big Thank You and A Winner...

Hi everyone! Before I announce the winner of last week's Sharing on Sunday Christmas in July give away, I want to thank each and every one of you who left me a comment this week. There were 14 comments for the Snowball update, 25 for Tool Time, 32 for the chocolate chip eating mouse story and a whopping 51 comments for my "napkin" moment!! I guess I really did hit the target group on that one. Ahhh...the memories.
space
Wow! I can't thank you enough. Catching up on that many emails will be next to impossible, so I want to let you know that I read each one and I loved them ALL!!
space
And now the random number generator picked #14 for the Christmas gift wrap set.

Sharing on Sunday #7...Christmas in July

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. For those of you who are new to my blog...(I had new followers this weeks!! Thanks to all who clicked the follow button)...I started Sharing on Sunday as a way to thank all of you who visit my blog each day.
space
I may find something on sale, thrifting, may have a duplicate of something at home, something I have made or it could be something I have that I want to share with you. No matter what it is, I want to share, because I'm grateful for the friends I've made through blogging.
space
Since my last post was about wrapping gifts, how about a Christmas wrapping set.

space
First is...2 packages shrink wrap gift bags. Each package has 2 bags in each. You just place your gift basket or gift inside and then tie it up. Now you use a hair dryer to make it shrink around the basket.
space

The bags have a snow flake print.
space

here's the size.

Next is the ribbon to tie up that gift basket. Cute red swirl.

The roll has 9 feet of wired edge ribbon 2 1/2" wide.

Next, you need the hang tag for the basket.

There is also a package of 40 peel and stick gift labels. The front has gold labels...

and the back of the package has silver.

I've also included a package of cupcake wraps and decorative picks with the snow flake theme.

Now how can we have a gift basket without the grass. Ok, they call it basket filler, but basket grass sounds better. It's red and has some shiny pieces mixed in.

I think you're all set to wrap a few gifts this holiday season. Normally, I would just ask you to leave a comment to be enter (which you still can) but if you'd like to share a special or favorite Christmas memory that would be great too. Don't feel like you have to, just a "hello I'm entered" is fine.
space
Happy Christmas in July,
~Karen~
space
ps...I think someone is going to ask where I found all these Christmas things in July. Well, I have a place in the house where I keep all the things I buy during all those after Christmas sales. I just raided that place a little today.

Sharing on Sunday #6...Winner

The winner of the Christmas fabric for last week's give away...chosen by Random Number Generator #17 is...

Sharing on Sunday...Christmas in July

This is the 6th Sunday in Sharing on Sunday where I give a little something away to a special blogging friend who leaves a comment, drops by for a quick peek, shares a picture, a thought or an idea or just comes by anonymously and stays for a bit. However or whenever you stop by...a great big Thank You!
space
Since this is the first Sunday (or Monday if you had a crazy holiday weekend like we did) in July, I think I'm going to have Christmas in July!
space
Here is this week's give away. Almost 2 yards (1 yard 33 inches to be exact) of Sandy Gervais' Christmas X-citement for Moda. It has 7 seven rows and includes 3 panels of repeats. You can make 3 different panels if you wanted. See on the bottom row...it repeats Merry Christmas 3 times.

space
This is a close up of the rows.
space

The first rows are stars and trees...
space

then angels...

Then a navy blue row of snow flakes.

Next is a row of houses.

then snowmen...

The last is the row with Merry Christmas across the bottom.

Not sure how the colors show up on your computer, but they are true navy blue, burgundy, olive green, brown and a tea stained looking cream. When I first bought this fabric, I pre washed it, just to let you know.
space
You can cut up the rows and use them for borders, cut them up and add your own blocks in between the rows and make a cute sampler wall hanging or just quilt it as is. No matter what you do with this fabric, it will be cute!
space
Now all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and I'll pick the winner next Sunday.
space
Thanks again for being here,
~Karen~

Sharing on Sunday Winner #5

I hope everyone in the states had a wonderful 4th of July and are still enjoying today. We had a crazy busy weekend with lots of family visiting and staying with us, cookouts and fireworks. We're still recovering today and that's why this post is a little late!

The winner of the Sharing on Sunday rose collection is....#47.

space
Congratulations! I just need your snail mail address and I can get it out to you this week.

space
Thanks to everyone who left a comment. I think the consensus for me from all the comments is that I don't drink enough water during the day...you're all so good about it. Doesn't the 15 cups of tea I drink in a day count towards the needed 8-10 glasses of water? Lol !!!spac
spacee
Have a great day and I'll be back in a bit with this week's Sharing on Sunday give away. I'm a little behind, so we'll just make believe it's still Sunday!!

Sharing on Sunday Give Away #5...All About Roses

space
"We make a living by what we get,
but we make a life by what we give."
~Norman MacEwan~
space
Sharing on Sunday is my way of saying thank you to each and every single person who stops by my blog, even for just a moment.
space
Today's give away is all about roses...

a 3 pack of file folders...perfect for organizing

a 2 pack of matchbook style note pads...

a 3 pack of matching rosy pens...

a package of sticky tabs...note pads and tabs to mark your place.

and how can I not include a little rosy fabric. This a piece of Moda fabric from Robyn Pandolph's Folk Art Christmas. The piece measures 12" x 22", so it's a thin fat quarter, lol !! The color is a true mauvey pink with burgundy roses. I'm not sure if the picture comes across as true.

I know I usually ask you just to leave a comment, but let's mix it up a little this week. When I'm sewing or blogging I ALWAYS have a cup of tea by my side and sometimes a salty snack.
space
Let's all leave a comment to enter this give away by telling what we eat, drink or snack on when we are sewing, crafting, blogging, reading etc!!
space
This is going to be fun to see what people say!!
space
Thanks for stopping by,
~Karen~
