Exposure to free radicals that come from pollution, cigarette smoke, and sunlight are known to damage facial skin cells. Apart from environmental factors, damage to facial skin can also be caused by bad habits that are often carried out.

The following are some habits that can damage facial skin:

1. Use of cosmetics and skin care with excessive alcohol content

Alcohol in cosmetics and skin care functions to make the product feel lighter when used as well as to preserve the product. Using it in small amounts is fine, but if the concentration of alcohol is too high and used by certain skin types, it can actually damage the skin.

Owners of dry and sensitive skin, or those who suffer from eczema and allergies, should choose alcohol-free cosmetics and skin care. Also avoid products that contain parabens and fragrances.

If your skin is irritated after using certain skin care products, there's nothing wrong with trying skin fasting or temporarily stopping its use to ensure that skin inflammation really occurs as a result of the skin care that is being used.

2. Sleeping with make up still on the face

Sleeping without removing make-up makes dirt and the rest of make-up accumulate on the face. As a result, the skin pores become clogged and pimples appear. So, don't forget to always clean the cosmetics that stick to your facial skin before going to bed so that your facial skin is not damaged.

3. Rarely clean makeup equipment

Makeup tools that are rarely cleaned can become a breeding ground for bacteria. As a result, when used on facial skin, it can increase the risk of skin infections. To prevent this condition, don't forget to regularly clean your makeup tools every week with warm water and mild soap.

4. Excessive skin scrub

If you clean your face with scrubs too often, your skin can lose its natural oils and you run the risk of experiencing irritation. It is enough to scrub your face three times a week and once or twice if your skin is prone to pimples and is dry. Also, avoid scrubbing if your facial skin is dry or irritated.

5. Bathe too long

As much as possible avoid the habit of taking a long bath because it can damage the skin. Just take a shower for 5-10 minutes, OK? Avoid bathing or washing your face with water that is too hot, because it can make the skin dry and even trigger burns.

In addition to some of the things above, smoking habits, drinking alcoholic beverages, frequent stress, likes to snack on sweet foods, and lack of sleep can also make facial skin look dull and aged.
