Tool Time Tuesday...Summer Trick To Halloween Treat!!

Here's a quick and easy transformation with a sale item from the summer clearance section...

I found these plates at Walmart for 75 cents for 4 plastic plates. Plastic plates can be found any where, in any color, so this idea is great for any holiday.

Just add scrap booking letters and you have a quick wall decoration.

One word on one plate...or...

Spell out the word on several plates. This would be great on that long narrow wall that you don't know how to decorate.

I found these chip board letters in a consignment shop, but I'm sure something similar is in craft stores.

The black chip board letters had stickers on them already!

Perfect for a little wall decor...just hot glue a hanger on the back.

Great in a plate stand too.

I know pumpkins decorated as witches don't say BOO, but I thought BOO was cute!!

Don't forget to look for some tricks in different places, so you can make some treats. Remember...think outside the box.

Happy Tuesday,
~Karen~

The Smell of Fall is in the Air...From a Crock Pot

Don't you love the smells of autumn...apples, cinnamon, pumpkins. Well, here's a quick and safe way to enjoy those smells.

I made more apple pies today. One pie is for home (home nothing, my husband will eat the whole thing himself) and the second pie is for work.

I had all the cores and apple peals left over and I knew just what to do with them. This is also great time to use those apples on the bottom of the fruit drawer that are all bumped and bruised!

Place all your apples into a small crock pot and add your favorite spices. I used ground and whole cinnamon and some whole cloves.

Add water about half way up...

Cover and slow cook on low and it will last all day....just add more water and spices as needed. You can also simmer it on high and the smells will start faster, but watch how fast it cooks down.

It will start to cook down over time. This was just after an hour....mmm it smells so good!

Happy fall,
~Karen~

Fall Decorating...

Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the crisp air and the smell of apples and cinnamon. The girls came home this weekend, so I did a little decorating before they came. I cooked all their favorites, which included 2 apple pies. The house smelled so good.

For decorating, I have this large vase on the kitchen table.
I change what's in it each season.

For summer I place a candle in the center, then surrounded it with sea shells.
space

Very pretty at night.

This vase is so large, it would take a lot to fill it up.

So I put a smaller vase upside down, inside the larger vase.

Perfect spot to hold a candle.

Now to fill it up for fall...leaves are perfect.
I thought acorns, but they are way too small and would take a million.

Just slide off each section from the stem.

I snipped them in half.

Fast and easy and the whole bunch was only $3.00.

Love the colors!
Don't worry...I only light the candle when we are around.

Here are a few more ideas from around the house.

The first day of autumn is this Thursday the 23rd...thought I'd get a little head start.

Enjoy your day,
~Karen~
